World Shooting and Recreational Complex

World Shooting and Recreational Complex — a state shooting range covering over 650 acres, located near the city of Sparta in southern Illinois, USA. The facility is managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and is open for both public use and organized competitions.

Trap shooting is the main focus of the complex. The ABT line features 120 stations stretched over 5.6 km, with 16 equipped with lighting for evening shooting. There are 24 combined stations allocated for skeet (integrated with ABT). Sporting is represented by two separate courses with 15 stations each: one designed for experienced shooters and the other for beginners. A five-stand is available by reservation, particularly for corporate events. The complex is the permanent home of the Grand American Trapshooting Championships organized by the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA), which attracts over 5,000 participants and spectators from around the world each summer.

In addition to the stand disciplines, the facility features a Cowboy Action shooting range, a pistol and rifle shooting range (by reservation), and an archery range. Introductory courses and equipment rentals are available for newcomers.

The infrastructure includes a full-service restaurant, over 1,000 camping sites with RV hookups, showers with accessible stalls, a playground, and fishing on a lake covering approximately 47 acres. The Trap Shooting Hall of Fame, which moved here in 2016, adds to the sporting atmosphere of the complex. The shooting range is suitable for both first-time experiences with clay targets and preparation for high-level competitions.
