About
Wattlespring Sports Club is a shooting range for clay target shooting and other disciplines, located on the Onbekend farm near Bapsfontein, just 20 minutes from Pretoria East, Gauteng Province, South Africa. The club spans approximately 400 hectares and boasts one of the largest clay target shooting facilities in the country, catering to both beginners and experienced shooters, as well as competitive teams.
Clay target shooting primarily focuses on the club. The facilities include: 8 ATA/DTL (trap) fields, 4 Olympic trap/double trap/Universal Trench fields, 2 skeet fields, 7 compact sporting clays fields, and 1 FITASC sporting field. The machines are automatic La Porte with electronic scramblers and microphone release systems for the targets. The Claymate scoring system is used. The coaching staff holds ISSF Shotgun D certification and specializes in Olympic disciplines, FITASC, and sporting clays.
In addition to the clay target facilities, the range includes 7 pistol bays, including 2 permanently equipped IPSC stages with steel targets, and a 100 m rifle range. The club regularly hosts provincial and national competitions.
The infrastructure includes a restaurant, event hall, accommodation chalet, swimming pool, a fishing pond for bass fishing, and a Leisure & Adventure shop selling firearms, ammunition, accessories, and fishing gear. The range operates Tuesday through Sunday and on public holidays from 08:00 to 16:30; Monday is closed (except during school holidays).
