About
Skotfélag Akureyrar — a shooting club in the city of Akureyri in northern Iceland, located in the Glerárdalur valley. The club brings together around 350 members: both sport shooters and hunters. The range is one of the most active in the country and regularly hosts national competitions.
Trap shooting forms the core of the club's activities. The range features facilities for skeet, Nordic trap, sporting, and compact sporting. The club has repeatedly organized the Icelandic Championships in these disciplines, including the national championship in skeet and several stages of the Landsmót in compact sporting. Club members have won titles of Icelandic champions in skeet, compact sporting, and sporting.
In addition to the stand disciplines, the club offers rifle and airgun shooting (loft rifle and loft skammbyssa). Official shooting tests for deer are conducted for hunters. The club organizes practical courses in firearms for beginners and experienced shooters. The club is suitable for those taking their first steps in stand shooting as well as for athletes preparing for national-level competitions.
