Polígono de Tiro al Plato El Higuero
About
The El Higüero Clay Target Shooting Range is the national shooting range of the Dominican Republic, located in the El Higüero area of the Santo Domingo Norte municipality, Santo Domingo province. The facility serves as the country's main venue for clay target shooting competitions and is governed by the Dominican Republic Clay Target Shooting Federation (Fedotipla).
The range hosts competitions in two Olympic disciplines: trap and skeet. It was the site of the qualifying tournaments for the Central American and Caribbean Games, as well as the 2024 Americas Championship in clay target shooting, where licenses for the Olympic Games in Paris were contested. The range underwent a major renovation in 2023 in preparation for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games (Santo Domingo 2026), after which it was selected as the training base for the national teams of Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Brazil.
Thanks to the updated infrastructure, the range meets the requirements of the ISSF and the Central American and Caribbean Shooting Confederation (CTCC). The facility is primarily focused on training high-level athletes and hosting international competitions, although it is also available for training local shooters under the auspices of Fedotipla. The range is a key element of the country's sports tourism strategy in the field of clay target shooting.
