Maccauw Clay Target Club

Maccauw Clay Target Club (MCTC) — one of the oldest shooting ranges for clay target shooting in South Africa, established in 1960. Located at the Bloemfontein Shooting Centre approximately 20 kilometers south of Bloemfontein, the capital of the Free State province. The club operates in the conditions of the "Highveld": flat terrain, uniform background, and minimal wind provide stable shooting conditions.

The range offers a wide variety of clay target shooting disciplines. For trap, there are two trench layouts — one for Universal Trap and the other for Olympic Trap, as well as a layout for DTL. For skeet, there are two layouts: one for American/English Skeet and the other for Olympic Skeet. Sporting is represented by several layouts for FITASC Sporting and Compact Sporting; the latter has been around for about eight years and is actively developing. The club has hosted the FITASC Grand Prix and Compact Sporting events multiple times, including the 2024 African Championship for FITASC Sporting and Compact Sporting. The discipline of Helice is also noted among the available options.

The clubhouse features a fully equipped kitchen, a licensed bar, and a large hall. Gun rentals and the provision of ammunition and hearing and eye protection are available — convenient for corporate and social shoots led by experienced club members and range officers. There are barbecue areas and restrooms on the premises.

On the same Bloemfontein Shooting Centre complex, there are other clubs — practical pistol, Olympic pistol, smallbore rifle, and silhouette shooting, each with its own clubhouse. MCTC is suitable for both first-time experiences in clay target shooting and preparation for top-level competitions.
