About
Hutt Valley Clay Target Club (HVCTC) — a shooting range for clay target shooting, located on 63 acres in Whitemans Valley, Upper Hutt, Wellington Region, New Zealand. The club is the largest and most active hub for clay target shooting in Greater Wellington and caters to both social and competitive shooters — from beginners to national championship participants.
The range offers a wide variety of disciplines: DTL, Olympic Trap, ABT, Skeet, Sporting, and Compact Sporting. The infrastructure includes 6 DTL layouts, 4 Skeet layouts, 2 ABT layouts, 1 trench trap layout, 1 permanent Compact Sporting layout, and several Sporting layouts. Sporting and Compact Sporting are conducted under FITASC rules — from the developmental series Sporting Grand Prix to national championships.
Shooting events take place three times a month. The club offers training for beginners, corporate events, and team building. The range features a cafeteria with a barista, self-service coffee and tea, a licensed bar on major competition days, ammunition sales, as well as eye and ear protection. The club is a member of the New Zealand Clay Target Association (NZCTA).
HVCTC is suitable for both first-time experiences with shotgun shooting and preparation for district and national level competitions.
