Hippo Creek Shooting Centre

Hippo Creek Shooting Centre is located in Vanderbijlpark (Gauteng Province, South Africa) on the edge of the world-renowned geological site — the Vredefort Crater, next to the Vaal River. The range specializes in clay target shooting and is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the region. In 2014, it hosted the FITASC World Championship in compact sporting.

The shooting range covers a wide range of disciplines. In sporting, there is a FITASC sporting course with 16 stations, 13 compact sporting layouts — all fully automated, four of which are equipped with voice activation — as well as an English sporting layout with 10 stations. Among the standard disciplines are: 1 black powder trap with full automation and voice activation; 2 skeet stands with delay mechanisms allowing shooting according to both NSSA rules and Olympic standards; 1 FITASC universal trap with full automation and voice activation, where double trap events can also be conducted; 2 ATA trap and DTL trap stands with full automation and voice activation.

In addition to clay target shooting, the facility features rifle ranges at 100, 200, and 300 meters, as well as an indoor pistol range. The range offers shotgun rentals and ammunition, has a licensed bar and restaurant, a clubhouse with a VIP area and lounge, and a pro shop. Fishing is available at the adjacent water body. The facility hosts corporate events, birthday parties, and official competitions. It is approximately an hour's drive south from Johannesburg via the N1 highway.
