Hartford Gun Club, Inc.
About
Hartford Gun Club — a shooting range located in East Granby, Connecticut, USA, covering over 130 acres. Founded in 1884, it is considered the oldest shooting club in America; it is home to the Hartford Gun Club (established in 1864) and the successor to Samuel Colt's club.
Trap shooting is represented by a wide range of disciplines. Four permanent fields are equipped for ABT, with the possibility of expanding to thirteen during competitions; the club is the annual host of the Connecticut State Trap Championship and the location of the Connecticut Trap Shooting Hall of Fame. Nine fields with automatic machines and voice release systems are also available for skeet. The sporting and FITASC course features 36 machines and is set for 100 targets; targets are changed monthly. The club also offers a five-stand.
Among other facilities are an indoor pistol range with 10 climate-controlled lanes, an outdoor pistol range at 50 yards, a rifle range at 50, 100, and 200 yards, as well as four tactical shooting fields. Additionally, there is an archery range. The club is affiliated with IDPA and the Precision Rifle Series.
Training programs cover courses for beginners, skeet and trap sessions, youth programs, and individual training with licensed instructors. Membership is open to all. The shooting range is suitable for both first-time exposure to clay target shooting and preparation for registered competitions.
