About

Griffin-Lloyd Shooting Ground — a shooting range for clay target shooting located on the Welsh-English border, near the town of Knighton (Powys, Wales). A family business run by the Lewis family, established in 1990, it is set in rural surroundings and welcomes both beginners and national and international level athletes.

The core of the range consists of sporting: 26 stands in a wooded valley, each equipped with at least two Promatic Claymate machines. Among the targets are two high towers reaching up to 41 m (135 ft), a partridge hide, teal, driven, going away, rabbits, loopers, overhead, crossers, and quartering. Stands 3–9 are covered with a wooden shelter, allowing shooting in any weather. Stands 1–15 are suitable for all skill levels, including a zone for friends and family; stands 16–26 offer more challenging targets. Holders of a valid shotgun certificate can visit without prior booking.

For Olympic disciplines, there are two covered layouts for Olympic trap and ABT (Mattarelli machines, Corsivia clays, Multi-Pull system), one layout for Olympic skeet (Mattarelli), and two layouts for DTL (Promatic, by prior booking only).

The clubhouse features timber framing and offers seating inside and outside, toilets, tea, coffee, soft drinks, and snacks. The range has ample parking, and cartridges are available for purchase on-site. The range is accredited by WCTSA and CPSA, hosting registered competitions as well as training camps for the Welsh Target Shooting Federation and British Shooting for academic, transitional, and elite levels. Individual lessons and a 'Have-A-Go' experience are available for first-time shooters.
