Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range
About
The Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range is one of the largest and most renowned shooting complexes in India, located in New Delhi, in the Tughlakabad area, against the backdrop of the Adilabad Fort. The complex is managed by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and is open to shooters of all levels — from beginners to participants in international competitions. Clay target shooting is represented by six composite fields for trap and skeet, compliant with ISSF standards. The total number of shooting positions on the clay target fields is 50. The fields are outdoors; each position has an individual canopy for the shooter, and the spectator stands accommodate 2,000 seats. The scoring system on the clay target fields is electronic, produced by Laporte. Regular competitions for trap and skeet at the ISSF World Cup level and Commonwealth Championships are held here. In addition to the clay target disciplines, the complex includes an indoor range at 10 m with air conditioning and 80 firing positions for air rifle and pistol, an outdoor range at 25 m (50 positions) for pistol, and a 50 m range (80 positions) for small-bore rifle. A separate final range is capable of transforming between 10 m, 25 m, and 50 m formats within ten minutes. In 2017, an additional 10 m mini-range was opened for introductory training. The infrastructure of the complex includes changing rooms, lockers, restrooms, accessibility for visitors with disabilities, lighting, a café, a fitness center, a sauna, and accommodation rooms for athletes. The shooting range hosts SAI training camps and regularly conducts ISSF-level competitions, including the World Cup Final 2024 and the Junior World Cup 2025. The complex is closed on Mondays, and on other days it operates from 08:00 to 17:00.
