Cherokee Gun Club

Cherokee Gun Club (CGC) — a private shooting range located on 130 acres of land near Gainesville, Georgia, USA. The club was established in 1968; clay target shooting began here in the mid-1970s when the first trap and skeet fields were built.

Clay target shooting is one of the key focuses of CGC. The range features 4 DTL fields and 3 skeet fields located directly next to the clubhouse. The trap fields are registered with the ATA (American Trapshooting Association), while the skeet fields are registered with the NSSA. The sporting course consists of 15 stations and is accessible by vehicle; there is ample parking for those arriving with their own carts. A traditional five-stand operates separately, which is part of the sporting course. Electronic ERAD systems control the machines on the trap and skeet fields. Open sporting competitions are held on the second Saturday of each month.

In addition to clay target disciplines, CGC offers a wide range of other activities: pistol shooting (7 pistol bays, IPSC/USPSA, IDPA, Steel Challenge), rifle ranges at 100 and 200 yards, a 50-yard range for rimfire firearms, an NRA silhouette range at 100 yards, and a section for Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS) called Cherokee Cowboys. A youth program is also in place.

The club is private and closed to general public access; however, most competitions are open to the public. The range is suitable for both beginners taking their first steps in clay target shooting and experienced shooters preparing for registered ATA and NSSA competitions.
