Butterfield Trail Shooting Range — a public shooting range in Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA, located at 13500 Frontage Rd near exit 127 off I-10. The facility is managed by the Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department and is open to everyone — from beginners to experienced shooters.
The shooting range is organized by the Mesilla Valley Shotgun Sports (MVSS) club, which manages facilities for trap, skeet, sporting, and five-stand. The club also hosts a summer handicap skeet league, monthly club competitions, tournaments, and youth programs for shotgun shooting.
The facility does not have permanent staff: shooters are required to bring their own targets and clean up after themselves, including collecting spent shells. The range can be reserved for matches and special events through the Parks and Recreation Department. There is a restroom (porta-potty) on site.
Butterfield Shooting Range is suitable for both pre-competition training and first-time experiences with clay target shooting — thanks to public access, a variety of disciplines, and the MVSS club infrastructure.
